We have a wireless link to our repeater site 11 miles away. Give me a call on monday and I will put you in touch with our wireless guru on how we did it.

Hi, A. J.,

I know we don't absolutely need it, but there are other applications at
that location we may also be able to use it for (like IRLP and Echolink, for
example). We might as well get a little Linksys router and share the link
between applications. We have a two meter and a 440 repeater on that site
now.

There is a line of sight path from our University to that site. I feel
confident we could talk the University into giving us one of their public IP
addresses if we could find a way to get it up to the mountain from the
University. The distance I would estimate at about five to ten miles.

It won't all happen right away. This is a project we can work on as we
go. I've got one student who is a ham with me on the project as well as one
of our I.S. people (who runs our 440 machine, by the way), and a retired
faculty member who is also a ham involved in the project.

We had a flood here in the area a few years ago [I'm told]. The RACES
folks could use this to track our folks as we responded.

    Stay in touch. And 73,

Fred, WB4AEJ
