I know we don't absolutely need it, but there are other applications at<BR>
that location we may also be able to use it for (like IRLP and Echolink, for<BR>
example). We might as well get a little Linksys router and share the link<BR>
between applications. We have a two meter and a 440 repeater on that site<BR>
now.<BR>

There is a line of sight path from our University to that site. I feel<BR>
confident we could talk the University into giving us one of their public IP<BR>
addresses if we could find a way to get it up to the mountain from the<BR>
University. The distance I would estimate at about five to ten miles.<BR>

It won't all happen right away. This is a project we can work on as we<BR>
go. I've got one student who is a ham with me on the project as well as one<BR>
of our I.S. people (who runs our 440 machine, by the way), and a retired<BR>
faculty member who is also a ham involved in the project.<BR>
<BR>
We had a flood here in the area a few years ago [I'm told]. The RACES<BR>
folks could use this to track our folks as we responded.<BR>
