Actually, people with D7's and D700's  need to be
experimenting with this capability even without waiting
for ECHO.  If you have a D7 or D700, just leave it 
overnight on 145.825 with say a 5 minute beacon rate 
and see how often you got in in the morning. or who
else you captured on your receiver.  Just about
any APRS path will work, WIDE, ARISS, APRSAT,
WIDE2-2, etc...

Unfortunely at 9600 baud you wont see all the 1200
baud users, but if we could get enough people doing  this
at 9600, it would be fun to see the success rates.

Even without playmates, this will still work GREAT in 
Europe and the West coast where we have good 
9600 sat gates listening and feeding FINDU.COM.
Just check your packets success rate on the live
PCSAT2 downlink web page:

http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/pcsat2.cgi 

Look for packets relayed by PC2TLM* and those
will have been packets that passed through
at 9600 baud.

PCSAT2 will digipeat both 1200 and 9600 baud
equally using the same paths.  What it hears,
it digipeats back down.   But you can also go
cross-baud if you use the path of VIA XBAUD.
Then a 1200 baud packet will come down at
9600 or the opposite.


This is a good time to experiment with 9600 baud
digipeating until they eventually get around to
enabling the digipeat bit on ECHO.  The D7 and
D700 mobile rigs are easy to switch the APRS to
9600 baud.

PCSAT-1 also has a 9600 baud downlink in addition
to the 1200 baud link and should also do the same
XBAUD translation from 1200 to 9600, but it wont
go the reverse, since the 9600 baud receivers 
are OFF.  So it wont digipeat 9600 either (though
it could if we had those receivers on.)..
