Jason,
The April QST, pg 31, has an article that you may want to check out.
Instead of using the rig's VOX, it samples the audio from the sound card.
After a few milliseconds of audio from the sound card it generates optically
isolated PTT for the transmitter. Saves using up a serial port for rig
control.
