Except for the issues of:

1)   Having to locate a complete PC at a digi site; i.e. power 
consumption, space, etc.
2)   Finding a PC with a serial port, let alone TWO serial ports (unless 
you still have an old 286/386/486 clunker around with ISA slots that can 
accomodate a dual serial port board).
