I wonder if an algorithm could be used to calculate each person's ALOHA
circle based on RF data that is received at the findU circle and then
place that link on the top of such users that have paths that extend
outside of that circle.  That way the Montana station and the Los
Angeles station would be on the same playing field.

Path is too long for where?   A path that's too long for Seattle
is appropriate and necessary in Montana.   It's a regional problem.

Going beyond manually enter hop counts to "pseudo paths" like LOCAL,
REGION and WORLD (or whatever...) would allow the local systems to
handle the packets and the users wouldn't have to
worry about this trivia.   It's time to get past this minutiae and move
on.
