For the next week or so, I will be operating a 9600 baud APRS gateway on
441.500 in Southern California. This is to test the functionality of
APRS at 9600 in the greater Los Angeles area. The station will operate
with a callsign of AD6NH-1 and is located in northern Orange County, CA,
with a good view to the south and west. See
http://uiview.info/find.cgi?call=ad6nh-1 for a map of the location. The
test is open to all who are able to hook a 9600 baud modem to their APRS
station, or all who use the Kenwood APRS compatable radios. I would
like for both mobile and stationary users to participate in the test,
however my thought is that if this works well enough, some fixed and
weather stations might be able to move off the 1200 baud channel.
Whatever we decide to do with it is irrelevant at this point. For the
purpose of the test, all packets seen through this station on UHF 9600
will be digipeated on the 1200 network and gated to the internet. I
welcome all reports of success and failure! Have fun!
