[TangerineSDR] TangerineSDR Digest, Vol 36, Issue 1

Also observed at my SuperSID receiver + CCW VLF-HF active vertical in
Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada (Grid: EN58JK48TO): NPM, NAA, NLK and NML. But
at NML the M2-class solar X-ray flare occurred near my solar noon (1810Z)
so NML's shark fin was inverted as NML signal was heading south and NAA
signal was heading north. I've heard about the inverted shark fin but this
was the first time I've seen it. I just assume it's because the flare and
my solar noon were pretty much occurring when my local ionosphere was near
maximum TEC? It was so very cool to see the inverted shark fin and the
others all vertical!

Rodney at the AAVSO solar group sent me the SID Data Grabber
(SDG) display of the event and I've just joined up to send in monthly
reports of my local SID data if and when I spot SID events. Apparently, I'm
the only one in the group who is using an E-field antenna so it was great
to know that my station is actually working and spotting SID events. But my
bad for not checking my data every day. If I hadn't sent a query email
asking about the SDG AAVSO program I would have never known that I captured
a SID!

Here's hoping that there are a lot more SID shark fin events as we head
towards solar maximum and then some!!

73,
Robert, VA3ROM
