Regarding the discussion 07/07/2020 about the status of the magnetometer
performance:
The prototype hardware seems to be working as expected. From an
electro-mechanical point of view, the behavior meets or exceeds the
requirements laid down for the project at the time of design.
I am much less clear that the characterization of the sensor has been
completed. Hyomin, David McGraw, John Gibbons and others have said that
they were planning to evaluate the sensitivity and other performance
parameters.
While offhand comments from Hyomin Kim and Julius Madey have led me to
believe that the numbers reported by the sensor are 'in the right
ballpark', I have heard no verdict on how good (or otherwise) they are.
Hyomin has deployed the sensor at Jenny Jump, but I'm not certain what his
ongoing evaluation plan is.
If Scottie's production of his 'official' TangerineSDR magnetometer design
is waiting on sensor characterization, the verdict is still out.
So proceed at your own risk.
