</o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=EN-US link="#0563C1" vlink="#954F72"><div class=WordSection1><p class=MsoNormal>Working with my FBB forwarding partner today, I’ve been able to confirm that:<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>mbox fbb 0 in JNOS is the equivalent of setting “N 0” in the forward.sys file on FBB<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>mbox fbb 1 in JNOS is the equivalent of setting “N 1” in the forward.sys file on FBB<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>But, mbox fbb 2 is still a bit of a puzzle.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>When I connect TO a JNOS machine with mbox fbb 2 set, it answers with SID letters BF (I’m eliminating the others for simplicity).<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>O.K. That tells me that the best JNOS can do is FBB binary compressed protocol version 0. (REF: http://www.f6fbb.org/protocole.html)<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>When a JNOS with mbox fbb 2 set connects TO another JNOS machine with mbox fbb 2 set, the destination machine answers with SID letters BF and the source machines responds with SID letters BF.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>O.K. That’s expected. They both have the same maximum capability.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>BUT …<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>When JNOS with mbox fbb 2 set connects to an FBB machine with “N 2” set, the FBB machine answers with SID letters B1F (binary compressed protocol version 1) and then JNOS responds with SID letters B1F. (See FBB log below – session is over telnet).<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Now that doesn’t seem right. If JNOS answers incoming connections with SID letters BF, then supposedly that’s the best it can do. And if that’s the best it can do, then it shouldn’t say it can do more (B1F) when connecting to another machine.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Am I right? If not, please explain.
