It could be that your running grub 2 with Ubuntu 10.10<br>
<br>
Try holding the shift button as soon as you see the bios screen..<br>
<br>
You always have a menu even with one kernel..<br>
<br>
You can see the kernels installed if your look in the /boot
directory<br>

booted on up.<br>
<br>
I suppose that could be interpreted that I don't have any other
kernals to pick from.<br>
<br>
Anyway, today I was playing around trying to figure this out and
after rebooting, I switched to console 4 and saw the familiar
blinking cursor line and thought nothing had changed.<br>
<br>
So, I switched back to the GUI and brought up a terminal screen.
At the screen I tried to ping my JNOS at 44.2.14.1.<br>
<br>
As soon as I hit the enter key I thought... "That was stupid.. I
haven't manually started JNOS so I won't get a response"<br>
<br>
Only, to my surprise, I got a ping response. I was shocked. <br>
<br>
I telneted into my system and confirmed JNOS was running.<br>
<br>
I toggled back to console screen 4 and it still showed nothing but
a blinking cursor line.<br>
<br>
So, somewhere in January all I can surmise now is that my Ubutnu
had done an update that changed the way the console diplayed.<br>
<br>
Before this, on computer boot-up, I could switch to console 4 and
actually "visually see" JNOS running.<br>
<br>
Now the console does not "visually show" anything. But, JNOS is
running. I suspect it has been running this whole time and I did
not know it.<br>
<br>
I would like to actually "see" JNOS running. This way I can use
the console session to access JNOS.<br>
<br>
As it is now, I can at least telnet in. If JNOS does crash at some
point, I just won't be able to see it from the console.<br>
<br>
So, I'll call this a fix for now.<br>
<br>
....Anyone know how to get the console to show the running program
(JNOS) again ?<br>
