I have not shared this particular event, but I've seen what you
describe in other venues. I've been tracing to file without any
trouble for a couple years, so it is not likely jnos is the cause, as
you point to later it is only linux/unix where you can see this.<br>

The terminal emulation does have features activated by special
characters so what you see can be the OS reaction to a command you did
not intend to issue. Oh yes -- the probable source is from a site
that is compressing the data for transmission.<br>

Perhaps the work around you might try is with the "reset" or "tset"
commands that have worked well for me. There is a pretty good man page
on these commands, and I believe they are a normal part of the base
install so you will have them available without hassle. I suggest you
log in as root on one of the unused multi-consoles and issue the
command from there for the terminal "/dev/tty??" that is effected. If
it works as I expect, you will not have to re-start jnos. Do remember
/ I have not tested this here so it is an untested solution.<br>
