Charles: Thanks for your reply… my problem is/was not that the files are locked (they were not). 

Don: cleaning out the smtp list was accomplished by deleting everything from ‘mqueue’ and restarting jnos -> no joy

The only error/warning messages I  see is when jnos boots up, is at the jnos> prompt: ‘Warning: forward server not started’.

Jnos then starts the forward server when it checks for outgoing mail.

This is a very basic jnos… no 44 net stuff, no encap statements etc. just running ax25, netrom, and mail. SMTP is set at its default values.  Ve7poo’s only link is with ve7ass.
