I was a TNOS sysop WAAAY back in the day, and I have been playing around
with getting a Linux AX.25/NETROM node going on a Raspberry Pi using a
sound card for a modem. I was originally going to just use the Linux
kernel with all of its bells and whistles with netromd and something
similar to pms on the latest Debian release. I was very happy to get
Thomas Sailors modem software working with the AX.25 stack. I have
everything configured, but the netromd is not broadcasting. I am now
finding out that the AX.25 code in the new Linux kernel is a bit stale
and may be buggy now (have not noticed yet), and that possibly they user
land tools like netromd may be stale and buggy too. So I am looking at
something that maybe currently maintained so that I don't have the
headache of trying to figure out what is broken or what is not. I could
also install an old version of Slackware or something as I probably will
not bother with TCP/IP stuff for now. My main goal is to be able to
help people get a quick cheap little army of nodes going in case of
disaster. Things have been looking dicey on the world scene, and I
would like to be a little more prepared with EMCOM.
Thanks,
