For any of you trying out the beta's or compiling jnos
on the x86_64 platforms, a word of warning regarding the
index files under spool/mail directory !!!

IF you try and use JNOS spool/mail files from an older
version of JNOS that was run on a 32 bit system - i486,
pentium III, etc - you MUST reindex the *.ind files !

The easiest way to do this is run JNOS with the -i option,
you only have to do it once, after that the *.ind files will
be fine. The problem is that the indexes use data types that
are dependent on the platform. What that means is the *.IND
files on your old 486 will seem *corrupt* on the x86_64,
and vice versa.

Similarly if you are migrating from DOS to the linux systems,
you will no doubt have a similar problem. Reindex your mail
files, ie :

     ./jnos -i <other options>

Some symptoms *could* be high CPU usage or hanging of JNOS,
but in any event it doesn't matter. You need to make sure the
index files match the platform.

At some point, the final beta should be able to handle the
older index files (platform independent is what it really
should be), but that requires a bit more work.
