[nos-bbs] TNC requirement?

Am thinking of experimenting with Maiko's nos APRS features but am
uncertain as to whether an older tapr 2 clone like the MFJ 1270B would
perform okay or not.  What about node operation, would an X1J be
useable or for that matter, desirable?
