I believe that Linux uses 'signals' as a sort of interprocess
communication. This error message
seems to indicate that some process crashed and gave out a code. The
code (signal 28) might
mean Virtual Timer Expired
(https://people.cs.pitt.edu/~alanjawi/cs449/code/shell/UnixSignals.htm).
That doesn't help us much.
Some questions about configuration:
1. What hardware are you running? 20m (Zoltan's transmiter) or 30m (my kit)
2. What version of Linux/Raspbian? type: uname -a
3. Is WSPR running? I'm not familiar with Zoltan's software, so this is
a hope and a guess if
you're running the 20m transmitter. type: ps -ax | grep wspr
4. Look at the log file and check for any weird messages: type: dmesg |
more
This is sorta open ended in that Linux detects errors (at least
some errors) and
fixes them, so something saying error isn't necessarily an error.
5. Did the transmitter ever work? IOW, did the transmitter work at one
point in time and then quit
or it's never worked and you're trying to get a virgin
configuration running?
6. Are you using a good SD card (class 10) and a good power supply
(*important*)?
I've picked up a bunch of cheap USB power supplies/wall warts
from China and
had problems with them. This is exacerbated because the
transmitter takes its
power from the Pi power supply.
