    <p>I have been wondering for some time why Kenwood dropped the
      cross-band mode from the D74.    This also makes the D74 
      incapable of operating Skycommand remote control with the TS-2000.
           <br>
    </p>
    <p>Did you notice how Kenwood maintained the D72 and D74 as current
      models side-by-side for several years after the D74 came out.  I
      think this was to make Skycommand available on the TS-2000.   
      When the TS-2000 reached end-of-life and was discontinued this
      last fall,  the D72 also suddenly disappeared. <br>
