I have had bad luck with RPis such that I avoid them for long running server applications when possible. The main issue is corrupted SD cards. The issue is not just SD card wear-out, but power-cycling as well. The SD card can be corrupted when the PRI is not
shutdown properly. This makes the RPI a no-go for mobile applications where you want to turn them on and off without console interaction (e.g. ignition on/off). The RPi does not respect the write protection switch on standard SD cards, and there is no write-protection
of uSD. I have read of a switch being installed on the RPi to for SD write protection, after which shutdown corruptions were eliminated.

</span>Of course, but a USB flash drive is just as likely to corrupt and the expense of an SSD or even the power draw of a spinning drive can buy a lot of SD cards!<br class="">
