The test of N0QBH's PSK63 traker is underway. The device is a
PIC-based single-board device similar to a TinyTrack III (you plug a
NMEA GPS into one end and audio tones ready to transmit come out the
other) but it outputs PSK63 for use on 30 meters HF instead of the
usual 1200 baud AX.25 packet.
Both WB2LMV and yourself are pounding in here alternately, with
nearly every transmission from both decoding successfully. A
glance at the whole North America map on my webserver at
shows that I am just about equidistant from both of you. The line
track from the UI-HeightTrack plugin for UIview is now becoming
visible, even at the scale of the whole US. A much more magnified
view of the track is available at
Note that while you are using PSK63, WB2LMV is using the much
faster (but less suited to weak signals) GMSK250 mode.
The 30-meter band is unusually quiet here today. Normally the
Kenwood TS-440 S-meter reads S3 on background noise with the 2.5 KHz
SSB filter, and S1 with the 500 Hz CW filter switched in (the way I
normally run the igate).

Right now, as of 11:00 EST (1600 UTC) Saturday the noise level is
barely above "S 0.5" with the SSB filter, and literally S-0 with
the 500 Hz CW filter. :

N0QBH-63 has been running S-6 to S-7 during his transmissions.

WB2LMV-63 has been running S-3 to S-4 during his transmissions
