N0QBH will again be testing a PSK63 APRS tracker
on 30 meters HF this Saturday (9 March 2013) under the callsign of
N0QBH-63 .

This prototype device is similar in concept to a TinyTrack III,
but encodes to PSK63 instead of the usual AX.25 packet format for
APRS. This format is compatible with the APRS Messenger
APRS-over-PSK63/GMSK/MFSK16 program. Details on setting up this
freeware program are here on my web site:
APRS Messenger by itself does not create map displays. It can be
linked via IP to any of the standard APRS applications such as
APRSis32, UIview or APRSpoint for a mapping display.

The actual RF frequency for APRS-over-PSK63 on 30 meters is:

10.149.700 MHz

You normally achieve this by seting the AUDIO tone center in APRS
Messenger to 2100 Hz, and setting the indicated RF frequency on a
transceiver to 10.147.600 MHz USB.

These test transmissions will take place all day Saturday with 50
watts output to a half-wave wire antenna. The test is actually
from a fixed station, using a GPS emulator program instead of an
actual GPS connected to the tracker. As a result, the track will
appear more like an aircraft flying from VOR to VOR than a vehicle
on a highway. The track will be displayed on my UIview
"LiveTrack" server, normally used for balloon launches, at:
