The combination of all of these answers helps a lot. For clarification Lynn, by 'station' I meant an old fashion radio transceiver. I am an AREA volunteer, and I was chatting with my District Emergency Coordinator last night about the tactical uses of APRS. He was not aware that a direct radio to radio connection would work, as you guys explained. Lynn, we will probably utilize an internet connection for our efforts, however because we prepare for communications (to include internet) blackouts, we are focused on what we can do with portable, battery powered communications.</div><div><br></div><div>That said, I appreciate the explanation because my understanding of internet side of APRS is lacking.</div><div><br></div><div>Steve, I'm going to dig into your user's guide right away!!
