After running XASTIR for several years, I did the same experiment, running XASTIR and APRSISCE/32 in parallel on my OpenSuSE system. XASTIR lasted less than a week before I shut it down. No regrets. The KO6TH iGate has been running Lynn's software 24x7 ever since. No problems with Wine; APRSISCE/32 works just like any other well-behaved Windows app., but I don't have to suffer with Windows.
It definitely does run fine under WINE. I ran it side-by-side with my
Xastir instance (sharing an AX.25 port using ldsped (an AGWPE clone)) for
several months just to explore it.
