I've always found a spot where I could use one of the Chassis Mounts
in my vehicles. There's a flat spot somewhere out of the way of
feet that this can be attached through a hole I make, or onto a
plate that I can then secure with a screw that is already available
for holding some part of the dash on.<br>

These require to to make a harness that you then stick the power
poles into this mount. But, it snaps in, and you can then fuse the
harness if you want. Usually, I make a harness which includes a
dual fuse using a pair of these, one red and one black.<br>

I have one of the chassis mount rigs already assembled, ready to go,
which I just carry in my go bag, ready to snap in should I need it
somewhere.<br>

The big point, is that I then have the power for my radio going into
that block, and can unplug it, and plugin some other source of
power, if needed, or remove the radio trivially if needed. I can
also unplug the power source from the vehicle when I take it in for
service to keep the equipment in the vehicle safe. There is also a
Powerpole connector with fuses at the battery that I can disconnect
if I am working under the hood on something electrical.<br>
