Darn, I can't find the "LIKE" button, but I also would like this discussion to either end or else go to a sea lawyer group.

Vy 7 3
Earl
KD5XB

On Sat, Sep 3, 2011 at 7:45 PM, Mark Earle <wa2mct@mearle.com> wrote:
Most of the FRS radio manufacturers
also offer headphone/earphone and speaker/mic units for
their radios and have jacks for these accessories - usually
to the Icom-type or Kenwood standards, Garmin has their own
for the Rino radios.
Therefore, they must all be breaking the rules if your
I realize the post was long, but I quoted the full section earlier in the same post that explains that accessories must be certified with the FRS unit. Since Alex referred to that section, I was addressing Alex's conclusion (regarding Bob's uncertified accessory), quoted directly above it, in order to emphasize the pertinent parts of that section .194.
I believe the FCC would simply point to 95.194: "You may
not attach any ...other apparatus to an FRS unit.... There
are no exceptions to this rule ..."

Pretty clear, having read and siscussed similar topics
before with the FCC or via one of the TCBs.
