I just saw a Modern Marvels the other night about police pursuits.  One of the cars has a HUD display on the windshield that was rather simple.  It was a piece of plexiglass hung from where the sunvisor goes and an LCD projector mounted where the dome light is located.  The projector sends a left/right reversed image to the semi-reflective plexi screen.  This seemed rather impractical until the advent of small LED projectors for laptops like this one <a href="http://www.personalprojector.co.uk/">http://www.personalprojector.co.uk/</a> .  <br>
