<div>What would be nice for the trackers with displays would be to sort of weed out mobiles. Yes, I do want to know that a got a packet from kc4pl saying he's moving for example. But it doesn't need to popup full screen on my d710. What would be nice would be for the hamhuds and d710s (and others) to beep when some new (ie not in the station list) object was recieved - and popup full screen.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Let me give an example... as I travel into a new town within 10 minutes the local digi should publish an object for the local voice repeater. It would be nice if this beeped and popped up full screen. But joe schmoe mobiling around in his car would not beep nor pop up. Now 10 minutes later when the local digi again publishes the local info the display should not beep... it would get very annoying.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Another idea.... many years ago around 1994 when I first got an analog cellphone, when I drove through Columbia SC my phone rang. I answered and it was bellsouth playing a prerecorded message welcoming me to the columbia market. Cheesy, sure. But what if the digis were smart enough to see a mobile entering a boundary for the first time (in a week or a month) and send a message to that station letting them know about local events.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>As for letting us know about club events or meetings, Scott's open tracker's scripting can do this although I wish it could be indexed to a given day... but it seems most of the work is done. Yes, the digi's should publish the local 2m net within the beacon, but it sure would be nice in addition to have the net as an object every 10 minutes a few hours before the net... esp if it caused the radio to beep as above.</div>

<br>EVERY digi is supposed to be putting out the "locally recommended APRS or Traveler voice frequency object already. The format for that object includes both weekly NET times and MONTHLY Meeting times.
