</center>Then Kenwood TM-D700 Data Radio has voice capability if you add the
VS-3 voice synthesizer to it. When you do this, the D700 has the ability to
'speak' APRS messages.<br>After adding the VS-3 voice synthesizer to the D700,
it will SPELL the call sign of the station sending you a message. For example,
if I was in my car, with a call sign of <strong>WU2Z-9</strong> and sent you a
message, it would SPELL the call sign, saying <strong>'W' 'U' '2' 'Z'
NINE</strong>.<br><br>In addition to this, you can make the D700 spell out the
rest of the message too.<br>To make this feature work, you must send an APRS
message that starts with the percent sign '%'. Then all characters after that
will be 'spoken' via the voice synthesizer. An example of a message is:<br>
<h4>%ICU2</h4>This will say: <strong>'I' 'C' 'U' '2'</strong>, or <strong>I SEE
YOU TOO</strong>.<br><br>In addition to this, there are many special words that
the VS-3 can say. Below is a table showing these words. To use the extra words,
you need to enclose the CODE in square brackets. For example: <br>
<h4>%ICU[6B][54][5C]</h4>Will say: <strong>"I SEE YOU ON LOW POWER</strong>"
<br><br>
<hr>
Note: The codes labeled "Japanese" for the most part are English letters or
words, pronounced with a Japanese accent and designed to be easily understood by
anyone that speaks Japanese.
