</head><BODY BGCOLOR="#F8F8F8" ><div><SPAN style="font-size:11pt;">If the Southwestern portion of your travels includes New Mexico, you should be fine running Wide1-1, Wide2-1 on 144.39 just about anywhere in the state. That is probably true for any of the mountainous regions of the southwest. I live in a pretty remote area (75 miles from the nearest traffic light) yet I hit 3 APRS digis with the mobile and at least two with my HT. Mountains make great digi platforms! Plus, when digis almost 100 miles apart can hear each other, a two hop path covers a pretty big area.</SPAN></div>

<div><SPAN style="font-size:11pt;">I drive to Las Vegas once or twice a year. I40 through some parts of northern AZ has holes. I have not compared W1-1,W2-1 vs W1-1,W2-2 yet. Have been meaning to. I suspect the problem is more one of not having that first digi that hears you in the first place, rather than not having an iGate within the path.</SPAN></div>
