I have done that as well, but there are times when you want to use the
second profile for a specific task such as in an emergency or special
circumstance. Maybe an algorithm that after 3 - 5 minutes of zero
speed a beacon is sent with an increasing interval out to say 30
minutes.<br>

I've configured the OT1+ in my bike to switch to another profile when
it stops (slows down below 1 km/h speed), and to transmit a packet at
that point, so I'll get a packet at that right moment (and then every
30 minutes I think). When it's moving (speed over 2 km/h or something)
it's using the Smart Beaconing algorithm.

This guy is right about smart beaconing... one of my
<br>
complaints for years... when you STOP it doesn't beacon
<br>
for 30 minutes. Smart beacon should at least beacon as you
<br>
come to rest, or preferably, go into a standard APRS decay
<br>
until the interval reaches 30 minutes.

Sounds like this guy's biggest disappointment is that
<br>
he has smart
<br>
beaconing misconfigured, or else doesn't understand how
<br>
it works.
<br>
<br>
He's also guessing about congestion. It may be
<br>
congestion, or
<br>
something wrong with his rig, or something else
<br>
entirely...
