Thanks! That works MUCH better! With the 2 second delay, by the time
it makes it to the message display, the response is back from
javAPRSsrvr so I get to immediately see what it considers to be "local"
stations! I've been looking for just this feature. Now, to put
together a bookmark with the proper args to just send the query and
drop me into the response page.<br>

<pre wrap="">Steve,
Your new message sending page includes an Ack request on the sent
message. Apparently, query messages (like ?APRSD) don't like to see
the Ack flag set or they don't get answered by some APRS-IS servers
(namely javAPRSsrv). If I send ?APRSD to KJ4ERJ from UI-View, I get
a response and the message log doesn't show the Ack field ({nnn).
If I send it from your page (or my APRSISCE client, which I now know
has the same "bug"), I don't get an answer.
Any chance of getting a fix during your mid-afternoon coffee
break? :)

<pre wrap="">So now the send message cgi indicates it has sent the message and
forwards to the msg display cgi. Gotta work now, but coming
tonight, a
web form to enter the messages so you don't have to edit URLs, and a
link from each line of the msg page to send a message to that
station.

<pre wrap="">OK, so I did it on my lunch break.
You can enter a message here
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi">http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi</a>
If you want to bookmark a page with your callsign already entered, do
this
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi?fromcall=K4HG-8">http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi?fromcall=K4HG-8</a>
if there is someone you always talk with, you can bookmark both calls
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi?fromcall=K4HG-8&tocall=K4HG-7">http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/entermsg.cgi?fromcall=K4HG-8&tocall=K4HG-7</a>
After you send a message you will get sent to the msg page, for
example
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/msg.cgi?call=K4HG-8">http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/msg.cgi?call=K4HG-8</a>
Note that each message has a link now. If the message is to the
callsign on the page, the option is reply. if it is from the page
callsign the link is to send another message. Clicking takes you to
entermsg.cgi with the fields populated.
I've wanted to do this for some time, glad I'm able now. Enjoy.
Steve
