<TD class=press-title>Background of product planning and overview</TD></TR>
<TR>
<TD>The global amateur radio equipment market is estimated to be worth 16 to 17 billion yen today. In the FM mobile transceiver segment, the dual band type, which was once considered a luxury model, has been gaining market share every year, accounted for about just over 50% of the amateur radio equipment market in sales value on a global basis and for almost 100% in both sales volume and sales value in Japan in the fiscal year ended March 2007.<BR><BR>The TM-D710 series contains the upper models of the TM-V71 series, which hit the market in June this year and has been favorably received.The TM-D710 series support EchoLink system and other functions as well as TM-V71 series. With a built-in TNC (terminal node controller) and APRS which is becoming a global standard system, the new series has made possible various types of data communication such as exchanging operating frequency data via APRS. Models in the TM-D710 series are easy to operate and view since they have large panels and
large liquid crystal displays.<BR><BR>Kenwood aims to further enhance its presence in the field of wireless radio (communication), while providing new usage scenarios and new enjoyment to users by merging state-of-the-art technologies with its know-how and technologies in the amateur radio field.</TD></TR>
