color=#0000ff size=2>I was looking at pulse position modulation, but not for
high speed - I wanted to see if position information could be sent from a
balloon using a strobe. If the strobe can blink once per second and can be
triggered with millisecond accuracy, that's easily enough to send one byte per
second, and a complete position in 10 or 15 seconds. You'd need to track
it with a telescope, and it'd work best at night. But it wouldn't draw
much power, and the average power to peak power ratio is hard to
