someone wants to screw with our APRS system, we really are not going to stop
them. Whatever we come up with to try to "trap" them, they will come up
with a way to get around our traps. So, lets not go there. I assume
that all of us Ham APRS Players are decent people and are not out to try to
destroy anything.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

of bad paths in the new Paradigm APRS recommendations, is aimed at trapping the
unsuspecting new guy who either read some old out of date material, or just does
not know how to play the game yet. If they hit one of our trapped paths,
they will not go any further. These traps are limited to 4 path
settings in the KPC3+ digi TNC's. Those using UI-Digi are able to
trap a larger number of unwanted paths.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

NW APRS Network, we have some pretty responsible players. No one has ever
abused the WIDE7-7 path, so we decided to not trap out that path. We
wanted to keep it so that if we have a major emergency and the entire internet
goes down, and we still need to get emergency transmission through our entire
network which goes beyond state and country borders, we have that
capability.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

lets all play the APRS game, the way it is meant to be played. We have one
of the greatest assets of emergency communications that works and can reach the
masses with very little effort. Lets make sure we keep it that
way.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
