On the side with a view, I get at least 10 miles. I am really out in the sticks and I hear traffic on Channel 1 all the time -- not sure where from. I find the Motorola WalkAbouts seem to work the best. Pretty decent receiver.</SPAN></div>

<div><SPAN style="font-size:10pt;">For tracking the kids, it is mostly around a 20 acre lot and if they wander off. Generally within a quarter mile or so. I am on the side of a cliff, so knowing where they are is of more than minor interest.</SPAN></div>
