I got a VK-162 long ago.  My notes say 2019.  It said "u-blox 7", which
is old, but worked very well.  I think it was GPS and GLONASS only, per
spec.  I think the 8 series added more constellations, and the 9, 10 and
20 series are much more expensive.

I agree this is a good choice for basic position and time sync, when
it's on the roof of a vehicle not in a difficult urban canyon.

I do not have a good impression of the BU-353, from memory of reading
the gpsd-{dev,users}@ mailinglists.  I've never used one.   (I am part of
the gpsd project.)

It would be interesting if your unit is reporting reception of Galileo
and BeiDou.  As I understand it, BeiDou is not authorized for reception
in the US.  I've seen reliable reports that phones that have hardware
support for BeiDou not receive it in the US, and then receive it when
taken to e.g. UK, Europe.
