[aprssig] lost traffic - internet connected xastir

Hi all,

I run a weekly aprs check-in net every Monday. But yesterday there was
quite a few regulars missing. I emailed one user hoping he was okay,
and he replied that he'd tried several times to check in but was getting
some odd error on his smart phone, I think he uses aprs-droid or something.

So I checked on aprs.fi and bygolly, there were all these attempted
check-ins, none of which were heard on my xastir.

I verified xaster was connected -- it was: "rotate.aprs.net port 14580"

A restart of xastir fetched one more, but then missed three other attempts.

I don't have any suspicion that xastir is at fault, nothing has changed
on my rpi for many many months.

So my question is this. Can/do the rotate servers loose connection with
the aprs backbone?

Second, what would be a good second choice for xastir to connect with?

Third, was/is the backbone under cyber attack again on 18Aug2025?

Thanks for your input.
