I recently used it to send a message (via APRS) to a user that was QRMing the local network with position reports every 30 seconds or less, and no email available on QRZ.com.
It's a little assbackwards, but go to:
http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/msg.cgi?call=*

Click on ANY of the highlighted blue "Send" and fill out the appropriate blocks and send. Easy peasy vs scrolling though the alphabet on the FTM300 to compile a message.
