[aprssig] What is APRS, really?

I used to have my boat on a mooring and I used APRS to keep track of the state of charge of the batteries and cabin temperature plus the obvious “is the boat still there” issue. It worked very well for me. I currently use APRS to get weather info from our yacht club that is so far out in the boonies we have no internet and that works well to.

What I failed at was two-way comms. I had a buddy wit APRS and sending text messages back and forth was erratic at best.
