Here are some ideas as well:

http://aprs.org/ master page of Bob Bruninga the father of APRS and his various ideas and initiatives over the 25 years I have been playing with APRS

http://aprs.org/sats.html use satellites with APRS

https://smsgte.org/ send messages from your APRS station/mobile unit to anyone with a cell phone via text message

http://aprs.org/aprs-dtmf-gate.html an idea to set up a DTMF command gateway to APRS system so that any radio with a touch tone pad can message and report positions

http://aprs.org/cqsrvr.html group messaging using the APRS system

https://winlink.org/aprslink text messaging with WinLink users as well as being able to check your WinLink email and get notifications of WinLink messages waiting.

http://www.aprs-is.net/Email.aspx APRS to email gateway system

http://aprs.org/aprs-messaging.html details on various ways to link APRS to multiple messaging platforms

http://aprs.org/localinfo.html Advertise and/or use the preferred local voice frequency or repeater while traveling

http://aprs.org/APRS-tactical.html use APRS as a tactical mapping display to show any station in range what various updates are by MANUALLY placing object on the map and broadcasting that data to all other APRS users.

This should get you started on ideas of what you personally may want to do with APRS. There are other uses as well but these are some of the big ones.

Thank You,

Brian N2KGC

So, great. I am on APRS. Now what?

APRS allows you to send messages to other hams that are using APRS directly over the air. That's one of the ways I use APRS.
