Charging at work is a good answer to that for many people. For example, in
the FAST act of 2015, federal employees are allowed to plug into any
available 120v outlet at federal facilities and charge every day for a flat
rate of about $15 per month. During a workday, an EV can pick up near the
national American average 40 miles a day from a simple 120v outlet.
Another interesting factoid is that for every American car, there are at
least 6 parking spots. At home, work, church, school, gym, street, mall,
parks, sports, etc. If just one of those spots is covered with 12 solar
panels, that is enough to provide free transportation 40 miles a day)
forever.
