You just need to install it. Obviously, Mac OS X knows what Java is, since it is saying to install it. You just need to find where the installer is.
Alas, not being a Mac owner, I can't help you with that.

Welcome to the group of APRS software authors. Once you release, we'll have to get Lynn to add you to his authors list on his wiki.

I am in the process of developing APRS software for the Mac platform, however it is not yet polished enough to release at the moment. I mention this mainly to say don't give up hope; more options are in the works.
In the meantime, have you looked at "PocketPacket" on the Mac App Store? They have a Mac version in addition to their iOS app.
Also, while they do not work like native Mac applications, I've been able to get Xastir, YAAC, and Direwolf to compile and run on my Mac. Depending on what you want to do and if any of those options are of interest to you, let me know and I can help you get those running.

As an alternative, consider purchasing a $35 Raspberry Pi, you can run xastir or YACC pretty easily on it.

Did you ever find software for the iMac? I also have the same computer setup and am looking for a good aprs software.
Thanks
