The theoretical numbers certainly do bear this out, but practice does not. Even with large high quality SD cards, and following all the precautions like logs files etc. on RAMdisk, the Pis I use as hubs for my RV and home automation and data collection systems crash with a corrupted card in a year or so. Under higher use, as a Outernet hub with constant writes to a database, the average time to corruption was four months.
