Andrew,

This is a technical discussion list.  Something like Twitter might be a 
better forum for one-line comments and musings, or maybe Tumblr for 
ongoing notes about projects and ideas.

The APRSSIG is an excellent technical resource and there are many people 
here with detailed knowledge of all aspects of the field who are more 
than willing to answer questions, share their expertise, and discuss 
technical issues, best practices, and operating standards.

It's not a substitute for Google.  I think everyone here, even Steve, 
would be fine with your participation on the list as long as you keep in 
mind some basic community expectations.

If you've got a question, try checking Google and the obvious available 
references first.  If you can't find an answer (and assuming the 
question is generally relevant to the subject matter of the list), you 
can ask here and explain clearly what it is you're trying to do, what 
you need to know, and where you looked.

If you've got something to share about a project or an idea (again 
assuming it's on topic), make sure you explain the background of what 
you're doing, how you're doing it, what advantage you see in doing it 
that way, and give details on your theories and observations.

This isn't English class and no one's holding you to strict standards of 
grammar and punctuation, but you'll get a much better response if you 
can express yourself in complete sentences, form coherent paragraphs 
from those sentences, and express complete thoughts in a way that others 
can easily follow.
