Thanks for the info -- This evening I managed to work the ISS digipeater with the TH-D72A and Arrow II on the fishing dock behind the cottage. Gated by N0AGI-1 way back home. Sky wasn't quite dark, but the ISS became visible partway through the pass.

I run a AIS receiver here and have recently received stations up to 447 KM from my location on the Ma. coast. The AIS receiver is set for around 162MHz. Tropo ducting is common around this area this time of year. Steve KB1CHU

I hope they turn it back on soon -- I'm well away from my usual QTH, but have packed the Kenwood TH-D72 and Arrow II antenna. I got an excellent visual pass this evening, but hope they turn the radio back on in the next 24 hours or so, or I'll miss my chance.

I'm a bit baffled -- did I actually work VE1VZ directly? According to aprs.fi, that's 147.9 miles. But when I look at line-of-sight formulas based around height and earth's curvature ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line-of-sight_propagation ), I work out something like distance in miles = 1.41 x square root (of 1500 feet), or around 54 miles. How'd I work a station 147 miles away across the Bay of Fundy on 2m?

Hi,

It appears that the digi on the ISS has been off the air for several days, did I miss an announcement about this?
Anyone have any info on this?
