FWIW, you can also connect to a TNC using the serial port mode of Bluetooth.
I have a bluetooth<->serial dongle that I attach to a TNC, and do APRS from
my android tablet with APRSDroid using a KPC3+ and a Yaesu VHF radio.  Works
like a charm.  I usually demo this during my APRS presentation.
