What is happening is a "common" problem with the Microsoft.XMLDOM ActiveX object. Not a lot of help out there on a resolution but, check for the following in your Internet Explorer "Manage Add-ons":
Under Toolbars and Extensions, make sure you are looking at All Add-ons look for (under Microsoft) XML DOM Document. If it is not there, you may not have the XML DOM module installed (can be installed via Windows Update Optional Software updates. If it is there, make sure it is enabled.
If it is enabled, right click on it and select More Information. Make sure there is an asterisk in the text box. If not, click on the "Allow on all sites" button below the text box and then click on the Close button.
Here is what my XP box with IE8 reports for that object:
Name: XML DOM Document
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation
Type: ActiveX Control
Version: 8.100.1053.0
File date:
Date last accessed: Today, January 01, 2013, 3 minutes ago
Class ID: {2933BF90-7B36-11D2-B20E-00C04F983E60}
Use count: 3
Block count: 0
File: msxml3.dll
Folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32
Hope this helps.
