Yes, agreed - dead reckoning's benefits come from the visualisation of the 
probable error in the displayed position ("how far would have the vehicle 
gotten at the speed it was doing at the time it transmitted the position") 
as much as from the indication of a possible current position. I find it 
easy to make a guess where the station is based on the shown range (given 
that often I'm aware of the station's intended destination).
