George,

I'm adding Ethernet and TCP/IP support to my next generation 
tracker/TNC.  Supporting AGWPE's TCP protocol seems like a 
straightforward way to allow compatibility with existing programs, so 
they can use a network-connected TNC.  It never occurred to me that this 
might be seen as an intellectual property issue, particularly if the 
individual authors have implemented the interface themselves.  I also 
don't see it as competing with AGWPE / PEPro.

If this is really going to be a problem, though, maybe it's time to 
start working on an open protocol specification for remote TNC access.
