This brings up an idea I had some time ago and may have mentioned.

  Satelite smart beaconing. or perhaps Digi based Beaconing, Intelligent Beaconing, or Sophisticated Beaconing....

  Only beacon *if* you hear other traffic.  Why beacon if there are no digis within earshot...?  right?  Oh yes, of course you may not hear them but they can hear you.  However, if you *are* out in the boonies and know you will only be using satellites, simply wait until you hear something before beaconing.
  I'm sure there can be improvements suggested, but that's the basic idea.
